Voyageur Storytelling Salutes the Bear Walls of Ferndale

The Bear Walls of Ferndale

An Installation of the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists

located in the Ferndale Park Information Centre

Ferndale (Northern Bruce Peninsula) Ontario

Instead of a mural in the new Ferndale Park Information Centre, the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists proposed a dramatic wall-mounted installation of artistic Bears painted on 4-foot-wide bear-naked masonite shapes, created by local artist Stuart Burgess. On them 19 artists have created 18 bears expressing diversely their attachment to the natural spirit of Bruce Peninsula and their affection for its threatened black bears.

The Bear Walls can be viewed at the Ferndale Park Information Centre, just north of Ferndale beside the Ball Diamond: open Victoria Day to Thanksgiving, daily in July and August, Thursday to Sunday otherwise.
